Safety In Sport
Safety within sport is of paramount importance, and every club ranging from grassroots to the elite level must take safety seriously.
Understanding the Issues Around Safety in Sport
With the expansion of the internet, the world seems to be a much smaller place. This provides opportunities for more manufacturers to supply products into the marketplace. While competition is often considered to be a good thing, it is inevitable that some manufacturers will compromise on quality in order to cut costs, while others will simply be ignorant to the importance of quality and safety, and a minority of manufacturers just do not care.
It would be naive to think it is only manufacturers who are responsible for unsafe equipment in sport - customers have a role to play too. Funding at grassroots level is often hard to come by and therefore cost plays a key part in the buying process. As a result, customers are often drawn to cheaper equipment regardless of quality.
It is also fair to say ignorance can play its part in the buying process with many customers unaware of the importance of safety. This is where responsible manufacturers and governing bodies work hard to develop Safety Standards and to educate users on the importance of safety compliance.
