Safety In Sport

Safety within sport is of paramount importance, and every club ranging from grassroots to the elite level must take safety seriously.

Understanding the Issues Around Safety in Sport

With the expansion of the internet, the world seems to be a much smaller place. This provides opportunities for more manufacturers to supply products into the marketplace. While competition is often considered to be a good thing, it is inevitable that some manufacturers will compromise on quality in order to cut costs, while others will simply be ignorant to the importance of quality and safety, and a minority of manufacturers just do not care.

It would be naive to think it is only manufacturers who are responsible for unsafe equipment in sport - customers have a role to play too. Funding at grassroots level is often hard to come by and therefore cost plays a key part in the buying process. As a result, customers are often drawn to cheaper equipment regardless of quality.

It is also fair to say ignorance can play its part in the buying process with many customers unaware of the importance of safety. This is where responsible manufacturers and governing bodies work hard to develop Safety Standards and to educate users on the importance of safety compliance.

British and European Safety Standards are the Benchmark

As one of the UK’s leading manufacturers of sports equipment, we understand the importance of keeping our athletes safe. As a result, we work closely with UKAS approved testing laboratory CST Global and all our products are independently tested to conform to the relevant British and European Safety Standards. We are so proud of our high standards, you will find test certificates displayed against each product on our website.

Some of the Standards we adhere to include: -

  • BS EN 748:2018 – Playing field equipment. Football goals. Functional and safety requirements, test methods
  • BS EN 16579:2018 - Playing field equipment. Portable and permanent socketed goals. Functional, safety requirements and test methods
  • BS EN 1509:2008 - Playing field equipment. Badminton equipment. Functional and safety requirements, test methods
  • BS EN 1271:2014 - Playing field equipment. Volleyball equipment. Functional and safety requirements, test methods
  • BS EN 1510:2014 - Playing field equipment. Tennis equipment. Functional and safety requirements, test methods

We believe these standards are the benchmark for quality and the minimum our customers deserve. When choosing sports equipment manufactured by PMF Products you can rest assured knowing the utmost care and attention has been invested in the designing, developing, testing and manufacturing all products.
